The rich culture and landscape of Pittsburgh, iconic Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, leaves no wonder why 10 million visitors travel here annually.

Pittsburgh was home to the icon Mr. Rogers! Now, a 7,000 pound bronze statue "Tribute to Children" of Mr. Rogers permanently sits tying his sneaker and facing the Ohio River in North Shore Riverfront Park on North Shore Drive near Carnegie Science Center, Heinz Field, and the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.' To this day, especially in times of 'disaster,' I remember my mother's words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers--so many caring people in this world." Mr. Rogers

Fred Rogers was the star of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood which aired on TV from 1968 until 2001 on Pittsburgh's local PBS affiliate, WQED. His statue was completed in 2009, funded by dear friend Cordelia May. The statue cost $3,000,000 to build. The statue is 10 feet 10 inches tall.

"There's no 'should' or 'should not' when it comes to having feelings. They're part of who we are and their origins are beyond our control. When we can believe that, we may find it easier to make constructive choices about what to do with those feelings." Mr. Rogers

Fred Rogers was born on March 20, 1928, in Latrobe, PA. He died on February 27, 2003 after being diagnosed with stomach cancer in December. He underwent surgery January 6, 2003 and chose to pass at his Squirrel Hill home in Pittsburgh, PA.

"Love isn’t a state of perfect caring. It is an active noun like struggle. To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is, right here and now." Mr. Rogers

Bridge over Ohio River

The bridge pictured spans the Ohio River, one of three that flow through Pittsburgh. The Allegheny, Monongahela Rivers also flow through Pittsburgh.

"“What matters isn’t how a person’s inner life finally puts together the alphabet and numbers of his outer life. What really matters is whether he uses the alphabet for the declaration of a war or the description of a sunrise–his numbers for the final count at Buchenwald or the specifics of a brand-new bridge.” Mr. Rogers

I Am Pittsburgh

The cultural phenomenon known as I Am Pittsburgh was started by Tyler Bevington in 2017.  Mr. Bevington owns I Am Photography. https://www.facebook.com/iAMPhotographyy

Tyler Bevington writes, "iAmPittsburgh is more than a brand. The goal is to create a network of people that want to see our city change for the better. 'iAm' is not only an affirmation, its also standing for what is put after it. iAmPittsburgh is holding ourselves personally accountable for making our city and our community a better place."
